Eric Our Soapmaker -I am Eric, the Soapmaker and Co-Founder behind Libra French Skincare, alongside my wife and the love of my life, Joanne, the other Co-Founder of the brand.

I grew up in the South of France, in the Toulouse region, where marchés filled with handmade soaps, fragrant herbs, fresh flowers, and artisanal treasures shaped my love for authentic craftsmanship and the timeless art of savonnerie.

From a young age, I was immersed in this world, watching relatives and local artisans prepare soaps, botanical infusions, and traditional skincare remedies using methods passed down through generations. In 2018, I moved to the United States and brought with me that same appreciation for authentic French craftsmanship and savoir-faire.

Today, on our estate here in Maryland, I handcraft French-inspired skincare products using rich goat milk harvested daily from our own goat herd combined with organic botanicals, some of which I dry and distill myself.

Every product is made in small batches with great attention to detail, blending traditional methods with a purist approach to skincare. My goal has always been to create products that feel refined, comforting, and luxurious — deeply inspired by the traditions and memories of my childhood in the South of France.”

About Libra

Video above: Our soapmaker, Eric, walks the farm with our beloved herd of Nigerian Dwarf Goats. Naturally curious and deeply loyal, goats follow their shepherd instinctively, moving from pasture to pasture with calm trust—no dogs required, only the bond between herd and keeper.

Libra, the symbol of balance, reflects the philosophy behind our estate: harmony between land, animals, botanicals, and craft. Founded by French husband-and-wife team Eric and Joanne, Libra Estate creates skincare entirely on our own estate using fresh, nutrient-rich goat milk from our own herd—never sourced, never outsourced.

We have chosen to steward the Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goat, a smaller breed prized not for volume, but for the extraordinary richness of its milk. Produced in modest quantities, its milk is exceptionally creamy and naturally high in butterfat—qualities that give our skincare its remarkable density, gentleness, and character. Unlike many commercial products, we never dilute our formulations with water; each of our products contains between 20% and 40% pure goat milk, harvested fresh daily from our farm.

Our estate is committed to achieving full provenance. Alongside producing our own milk, we are steadily expanding the cultivation of our own botanicals and herbs, bringing more of our ingredients under our direct stewardship with each passing season.

Each soap is crafted in small batches by Eric using time-honored techniques rooted in traditional French savonnerie, while Joanne oversees the estate herd alongside him with the same dedication to authenticity, refinement, and thoughtful stewardship. This shared heritage and vision guide every step, from the careful handling of fresh milk to the slow curing process that gives our soaps their exceptional character.

The result is true estate skincare—born from balance, respect for nature, and guided by French tradition, resulting in skincare of remarkable refinement and understated luxury, created entirely within our own hands.”
