Fresh Goat Milk

Purpose: Moisturize and Repair

Source of our goat milk: our very own Trafalgar Farms located in Trappe on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Goat milk is a powerhouse ingredient for skin, especially when it's naturally rich in butterfat like the milk from our goats. The high fat content creates a luxuriously creamy texture that deeply moisturizes and nourishes, helping to repair the skin’s barrier and lock in hydration. It's also packed with vitamins like A, D, and B6, along with gentle exfoliating lactic acid, which supports cell turnover for a smoother, more radiant complexion. Its pH is close to that of human skin, making it especially gentle and soothing—even for sensitive skin, eczema, or dry conditions. The result is skincare that not only feels indulgent but truly helps your skin thrive.

Olive Oil

Purpose: Gentle, plant-based skin protectant.

We choose olive oil as a cornerstone ingredient in our soaps and lotions for its exceptional skin benefits and its alignment with our commitment to gentle, plant-based skincare. Rich in antioxidants like vitamin E and nourishing fatty acids, olive oil deeply hydrates, supports skin elasticity, and helps protect against environmental stress. In soap, it produces a mild, creamy lather that cleanses without stripping the skin, making it ideal for sensitive skin, dryness, or conditions like eczema. While traditional soaps often rely on tallow (animal fat) for hardness and lather, we’ve chosen olive oil for its purity, sustainability, and compatibility with even the most delicate skin—without compromising on quality or performance.

Coconut Butter

Purpose: Deeply nourishing and soothing properties

Coconut butter, made from the whole flesh of the coconut, is a deeply nourishing ingredient in skincare and soap, prized for its rich texture and natural emollient properties. It’s packed with skin-loving fatty acids—especially lauric acid—which help soften, protect, and moisturize the skin while supporting its natural barrier. In soap, coconut butter contributes to a creamy, gentle lather that leaves skin feeling clean but never stripped. Its naturally soothing properties make it a great choice for sensitive or dry skin, and it can help calm irritation and flakiness. With its tropical aroma and luxurious feel, coconut butter adds both function and indulgence to every bar.

Shea Butter

Purpose: Soothe, repair and protect the skin

Shea butter is a beloved skincare ingredient known for its rich, velvety texture and deep moisturizing power. Extracted from the nuts of the African shea tree, it’s packed with vitamins A and E, essential fatty acids, and natural anti-inflammatory compounds. In soaps and lotions, shea butter helps soothe and repair dry, irritated, or sensitive skin while promoting softness and elasticity. It forms a protective barrier that locks in moisture without clogging pores, making it especially beneficial for those with eczema, dermatitis, or easily reactive skin. Gentle yet powerful, shea butter brings a luxurious creaminess to soap and supports healthy, nourished skin with every use.

Castor Oil

Purpose: Soothe dryness, irritation, and inflammation

Castor oil is a deeply hydrating and versatile ingredient in skincare and soap, valued for its ability to attract and retain moisture. Pressed from the seeds of the castor plant, this thick, nutrient-rich oil is high in ricinoleic acid—a unique fatty acid known for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. In soap, castor oil enhances lather, adding a creamy, stable foam that improves the overall feel of the bar. On the skin, it acts as a humectant, drawing moisture in and helping to soothe dryness, irritation, and inflammation. Its gentle nature makes it especially beneficial for sensitive or compromised skin, supporting softness, healing, and overall skin health.

Apricot Oil

Purpose: Supports skin elasticity and a healthy glow

Apricot oil is a lightweight, nourishing oil that’s especially well-suited for sensitive and mature skin. Cold-pressed from apricot kernels, it's rich in vitamins A and E, along with essential fatty acids that help soften, smooth, and deeply hydrate the skin. In skincare and soap, apricot oil absorbs easily without leaving a greasy feel, delivering moisture and nutrients that support skin elasticity and a healthy glow. Its gentle, soothing nature makes it ideal for delicate or irritated skin, including conditions like eczema or dryness. Apricot oil also helps improve skin tone and texture, making it a valuable ingredient for calming, restorative skincare.

Essential Oils

Purpose: Offers gentle, natural aromas.

Essential oils serve both a functional and sensory role in skincare and soap, offering natural fragrance along with targeted skin benefits. Extracted from plants, flowers, and herbs, these potent oils contain therapeutic compounds that can help calm, balance, or invigorate the skin. Depending on the type, essential oils can provide antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, or soothing effects—supporting clearer, healthier skin without synthetic additives. In soap, they replace artificial fragrances with gentle, natural aromas that enhance the bathing experience while aligning with clean, conscious skincare. From lavender’s calming touch to tea tree’s clarifying power, essential oils bring beauty, benefit, and botanical integrity to every product.

Colloidal Oatmeal

Purpose: Powerful soothing and protective benefits

Colloidal oatmeal is a finely ground, water-soluble form of oats that offers powerful soothing and protective benefits for the skin. Renowned for its ability to calm irritation and relieve dryness, it forms a gentle barrier that locks in moisture while helping to reduce redness, itching, and inflammation. Rich in beta-glucans, antioxidants, and natural emollients, colloidal oatmeal supports the skin’s natural barrier and promotes healing—making it especially effective for sensitive skin, eczema, rashes, or sunburn. In soaps and skincare products, it adds a soft, creamy texture and leaves the skin feeling comforted, hydrated, and balanced.

Kaolin and Other Natural Clays

Purpose: Gentle detoxification

Kaolin and other natural clays are valued in skincare and soap for their gentle detoxifying and skin-refining properties. Kaolin clay, in particular, is one of the mildest clays, making it ideal for sensitive or easily irritated skin. It works by gently drawing out impurities, absorbing excess oil, and unclogging pores without over-drying or stripping the skin. In soap, clay adds a silky, creamy texture and can even help extend the life of the bar. Clays also provide gentle exfoliation, leaving skin feeling smooth, refreshed, and balanced. Whether for calming inflammation, soothing breakouts, or simply promoting a clearer complexion, kaolin and other clays are a natural choice for healthy skin.
